Questions, answered
The ones we get asked on nearly every intro call. If yours isn't here, email it and a person will answer.
Why don't you have a sales team?
Because the person who can tell you whether you need an MDM, and which one, is an engineer. A salesperson can only tell you that you do, and that it's the one they sell. We'd rather spend thirty minutes with you, say what we'd do, and let you decide. If it's not a fit, we'll say so on the call.
We're small. Is this overkill?
If you've got ten Macs and no plan for what happens when one is lost or someone leaves, you're exactly who zero touch and basic security were built for. The setup is smaller, the price is smaller, and you get the same engineer.
If you've got five Macs and a trusted person who sets them up by hand, we'll tell you to carry on.
We already have an MDM. Do we need you?
Maybe not. Most estates we see are on a decent MDM that was set up in a hurry and never revisited. A health check takes a day, gives you a written list of what's wrong and what's fine, and you can fix it yourself if you'd rather. Lots of clients start there.
Will switching MDM wipe our Macs?
No. Our migration agent deploys through the MDM you're leaving and moves each device over with a few clicks from the user. Files, apps and settings stay put. The steps are here.
We're a Microsoft shop. Can't we just use Intune?
Often, yes, and if it's already in your licence that's a real saving. Intune's Mac support has improved a lot, but it still needs a macadmin to make the Mac experience feel native rather than like a Windows policy wearing a hat. That's the bit we do.
Which MDM do you recommend?
Depends on four things: what else is in your estate, who runs it day to day, what your auditors ask for, and what you've already paid for. How we pick. We don't resell any of them and we don't take commission, so the answer is the one we'd run ourselves.
What does "as code" actually mean for an MDM?
Instead of someone clicking through the Jamf (or Intune, or Iru) console and hoping they remember what they changed, the whole configuration is written down in Terraform files, kept in Git, and applied by a pipeline. A change is a pull request: someone reviews it, the pipeline tests it against a non-production tenant, and only then does it reach your real estate. You get a history of every change, and you can rebuild the whole tenant from the repository if you ever need to. More on how we do it.
Do you do iPhone and iPad too?
Yes. Same MDM, same identity, same zero touch. Shared iPads for classrooms and clinics, single-app kiosk iPads, and personal iPhones with work data kept separate are all routine.
Do you sell hardware?
No. We'll advise on what to buy and set up Apple Business Manager so whatever you buy enrols itself, but we don't take a margin on the box. We can also arrange wipe, buyback and recycling at end of life.
Can our own IT team run what you build?
That's the goal. Everything we build is documented in our own plain-language tutorials, written for your setup, and we train your help desk and technicians alongside the work. Some clients keep us on a retainer for the hard bits; some wave goodbye after handover. Both are fine. How upskilling works.
We're nowhere near Terraform or CI. Is that a problem?
No. Most estates we take on are managed by hand in a console, and that's where we start. We go step by step: fix what hurts first, put one piece under version control, train the people who'll run it, then the next piece. Nobody is forced through a pipeline on day one.
Can the public sector buy from you without a tender?
Yes. We're on G-Cloud, so government, NHS, education and other public bodies can buy through the Crown Commercial Service Digital Marketplace. We're also Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001 certified, which covers most security questionnaires before they're sent.
Where are you, and do you work remotely?
White City, London. Most of the work is remote by nature, and we have clients on several continents. For deployments and training we'll come to you.
What does it cost?
Three things are fixed price: the one-day Estate Health Check, the Zero Touch package, and each phase of MDM as Code. Everything else is scoped and quoted after the intro call, in writing, with no surprises. Retainers are monthly and you can stop. We'll give you a number on the first call, not the third.
